About the Workshop
This psychodrama training workshop will introduce sociometry, psychodrama, and group therapy interventions while exploring the impacts of countertransference, burnout, and vicarious trauma – which are likely to impact all of us at some point. Most of us choose to become mental health professionals and helpers because of our own experiences of adversity which can be a source of strength and passion, but also a source of burnout. In this workshop, we will explore the ways we have learned to make meaning from past adversity and find purpose in our careers. Multiple sociometric and psychodramatic interventions will be taught including concretization, empty chair, doubling, role reversal, and future projection. Research on best practices for addressing burnout and vicarious trauma, while promoting vicarious posttraumatic growth will be introduced.

- Compare vicarious trauma and vicarious posttraumatic growth
- Identify two methods to reduce burnout and vicarious trauma

I have had experience with therapy several times over my life, but when my wife passed, I needed help more than ever before. I took the weekly in-person women's group with Danielle, exploring creative expressive arts for post-traumatic growth. As an artist, it took me time to fully understand how sacred this space was for healing and not performing.
My evolution in healing is in great part because of Danielle's facilitation style and the supportive community in the room each week. We were all on this journey together.
I fully understand the potential for creative practices within oneself and in communion with communities. I am grateful to Danielle and the Phoenix Center for working with me in my full humanity, including providing a sliding scale offering.

I am 33 years into my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have attended many trainings over the years to expand my clinical skills repertoire. The level of expertise and care put into each of the workshops I have attended at the Phoenix center has been top-notch—from the highly trained facilitators to the welcoming and comfortable facilities, everything is done with such quality. I also love the location, as Media has great places to grab lunch with a new colleague and window shop.
