SUMMARY:An Introduction to Sociometry\, Psychodrama\, and Experiential Trauma Group Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Register Here!\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, November 30\, 2018 | 9:00am-3:30pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$125* | 6 CEUs \n*See Registration Information for available discounts. \nIf we were wounded in action\, healing must also be in action. This full-day workshop will provide participants with action-based group sociometric tools that can be utilized in any group setting. A basic understanding of sociometric and psychodramatic theory will be provided as it intersects with social work theory. This workshop will include a strengths-based psychodramatic vignette and demonstrations of action safety structures for trauma work. Diversity and cultural competence are especially important when working with trauma and when working experientially. Various adaptations of psychodrama and sociometry will be referenced as it relates to working with diverse populations and psychodrama’s popularity internationally. \nParticipants of this course will learn to 1) utilize multiple experiential group tools; 2) identify the significance of spontaneity in psychodrama’s theory of change; 3) discuss the significance of strengths\, containment\, and safety in trauma work; 4) describe at least one theoretical similarity between social work and sociometry/psychodrama; and 5) understand the historical background from which sociometry and psychodrama developed. \nIn addition to license CEU’s\, participants will also receive training hours towards certification in experiential therapy through the American Society of Experiential Therapists (asetonline.com) and board certification in sociometry\, psychodrama\, and group psychotherapy through the American Board of Examiners (psychodramacertification.org). \nThis workshop is appropriate for clinicians working with clinical groups – though the material is also applicable to any group setting (community\, supervision\, education/training\, treatment\, etc.). \nScott Giacomucci\, MSS\, LCSW\, CTTS\, CET III\, CP\, PAT\, is the Director of Experiential Trauma Services at Mirmont Treatment Center and runs a private practice in West Chester\, PA. He serves on the Executive Council of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama and is one of the co-chairs for the 2019 national conference in New Hampshire. Scott has worked on psychodrama teams around the USA\, Canada\, China\, and is scheduled to present in Sweden at the International Association Group Psychotherapy this summer. He is one of three editors working to publish the unfinished autobiography of Jacob Moreno\, the founder of psychodrama. In addition\, he is pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania while developing an MSW-course curriculum that integrates social work with sociometry\, psychodrama\, and experiential trauma therapy. \nAmy Stone\, MSS\, LSW\, Presenter/Assistant for this presentation.
