This presentation focuses on understanding social determinants of trauma and how a variety of experiences shape our responses (ie. attachment\, adverse childhood experiences\, and adverse community environments). Additionally\, we will discuss shifting the language and reframing the way we understand the function of certain behaviors and emotions towards survival. (Some key words/concepts touched on in the presentation- moral injury\, racism\, substance use\, suicidality/self-harm\, self-blame\, hypo and hyper-arousal responses\, and attribution.)\n\n\n\nLearning Objectives\n\n1. Recognize the impact of trauma and bi-directional social determinants\n2.  Understand the function and purpose behind certain emotions and behaviors that may develop after trauma and how curiosity and psychoeducation can be your biggest asset\n3. Apply a trauma-informed lens to a variety of symptoms and trauma responses\n\n\n\n\nDr. Ramona Roberts is the Senior Executive Director of the Regional Outpatient Services for Caron Treatment Center\, overseeing clinical and administrative operations for several offices. She is currently a level II certified clinical trauma professional with training in multiple trauma modalities including EMDR\, sensorimotor\, IFS\, and CPT. Additionally\, she is a certified experiential therapist with training in trauma-informed experiential therapies (sociometry\, psychodrama\, and adventure-based counseling). Dr. Roberts is the author of Making Sense of What Hasn’t Made Sense\, which is geared towards trauma survivors\, family members\, friends\, and clinicians\, and has garnered both the Counselor’s Choice award in 2022 and the Independent Press’ Distinguished Favorite award in 2023. She has presented research at regional\, national\, and intercontinental conferences and has several publications in professional peer-reviewed journals. She is recognized as a certified trainer of adolescent co-occurring disorders by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. She has won several awards in her career\, including Betty J McDonough Treatment award; Humanitarian of the Year; Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching; and the Inaugural Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Employee Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Award. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Ft.
