This workshop is also useful for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and preparedness to assist individuals in the transgender community. \nWe welcome helpers and healers from all professions. If you work with people\, you are welcome here. \nDuring our time together\, we will explore:\n\nGender\, Sexuality\, and Terminology \nDeep dive into Social\, Medical\, and Legal Transitions\nMental Health and Trauma\nTrauma-Informed Care: How Gender Fits In\nRetraumatization in Professional Settings: The 4 R’s of Trauma-Informed Care\nStandards of Care for Professionals\n\n \nYou will learn from a trans educator and be welcomed into a group of individuals eager to learn and all likely worried about making mistakes. Don’t worry\, we will dive into what it’s like to make a mistake\, how to correct it\, and grow from it.  This workshop will spark meaningful conversations and create an inclusive environment that prioritizes growth\, empathy\, and understanding.  \nWhile this workshop is designed for folks new to Gender Affirming Care\, we will explore deeper topics that often aren’t included on LGBTQIA+ trainings. These topics include medical changes\, transition expectations\, surgical interventions\, co-occurring issues\, changes to WPATH standards\, and institutional harm. \nThis workshop will include both lecture and experiential components. You’ll have opportunities to take part in small group activities and practical exercises designed to reduce mistakes and create better client outcomes. Our overall mission is to equip you with the confidence needed to provide compassionate care while minimizing the risk of retraumatizing your clients. \nIn order to create a workshop centered around meaningful conversations\, seating is limited.  \nContent disclosure: During this workshop we will be discussing topics around anatomy (including common anatomical and physical changes during a medical transition)\, trauma\, and sensitive topics\, such as suicidality\, self harm\, and sexual trauma. \nThis workshop has both didactic and experiential learning components and attendees will be expected to participate in group exercises.  \nLearning Objectives\n\nDefine key terms: CIS\, Transgender\, Non-Binary\, Gender Expansive\, and Gender Dysphoria\nList two medical interventions available for the treatment of gender dysphoria\nIdentify the sixth trauma-informed care principle\nRecognize at least one significant change to WPATH’s standards of care in the last ten years\n\nNo Conflicts of Interest or outside commercial support have been declared by the presenter or others involved in the program. \nProcedures related to Refunds/Cancellations\, Grievances\, and Conflicts of Interest can be found here. \nBy registering for this event\, you consent to receiving workshop reminders and workshop/practice updates. \nContinuing Education Hours and Training Credits\nPlease note that participants must attend the entire training event to receive CE/training credits.
