SUMMARY:The Social Self in Experiential Therapy: Relationships\, Attachment\, and Interpersonal Neurobiology
DESCRIPTION:August 31st 9:30am – 4:30pm| Bryn Mawr\, PA | 6 CEUs PA professional counselors\, social workers\, marriage and family therapists and psychologists|  \nThe Social Self in Experiential Therapy: Relationships\, Attachment\, and Interpersonal Neurobiology \nPresented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci \nLocation: Center for Families\, 1225 Montrose Avenue\, Bryn Mawr\, PA 19010 (2nd floor) Bryn Mawr\, PA \nCost: $125 ($85 student rate) \nThe self develops and exists in relationship to others. As humans\, we are social animals and our neurobiological wiring promotes attachment\, connection\, group membership\, and community belonging. In this workshop\, we will explore the necessity of attachment\, teachings from interpersonal neurobiology\, and learn sociometry/psychodramatic tools for exploring relationships. As mental health professionals\, relationships are the vehicle from which we work with our clients – and often the crux of the client’s concerns. Jacob L. Moreno\, the founder of sociometry and psychodrama\, was one of the first to challenge the medical model and suggest that mental illness is a product of relationships\, groups\, and society. Using Moreno’s sociometric system we will explore attachment styles\, social atoms\, and sociodynamics while warming-up to psychodramatic empty chair work. \nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. #004115) has been approved as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36)\, Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers\, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.
