What is not so universal is the process we undergo in navigating life after loss. Grief is a process that is unique to the individual\, and no definitive timeline exists for this process. Grief is not something one ‘gets over’\, though it is something we can successfully get through. Many times\, grief has (ripple) effects that are conscious and unconscious\, in the midst of powerful emotion and the uncertainty that occurs in experiencing death. SUMMARY:Understanding Xylazine: Harm Reduction\, Withdrawal\, and Overdose Reversal

Given the addition of xylazine to the changing illicit drug supply\, this Webinar will also provide information on fentanyl test strips\, updated withdrawal protocols\, and updated overdose reversal techniques. This Webinar is being presented by Sarah Laurel\, Executive Director of Savage Sisters\, an organization that stresses the importance of knowing how to interact with people currently using drugs or experiencing homelessness and providing basic public health needs to combat the public crisis we are experiencing. This session aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and resources to address the challenges posed by xylazine use in a thorough and compassionate manner. \nAbout Sarah Laurel: \nAfter recovering from substance use disorder\, Sarah sought to offer resources to women like herself. What began organically\, grew into a program providing housing\, street-based outreach and nationwide training. Sarah uses her lived experiences to serve others and stay relatable to those still struggling. She leverages her corporate background to lead the Savage team thoughtfully\, productively\, and sustainably. Sarah is the recipient of several awards\, including a Congressional Medal of Honor. She was featured on two Emmy award-winning episodes of Vice News and CBS News with Jessica Kartalija. Additionally\, she created the first Xylazine training\, delivering it both locally and nationally. The value of trauma therapy and other support groups\, such as Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families (ACOA)\, will be discussed with emphasis on their value for trauma survivors. Some examples of the lasting effects of growing up in a dysfunctional environment are difficulty with emotional regulation\, trouble with relationships\, issues with self-esteem\, and childhood trauma. Common traits associated with being raised in a dysfunctional environment involve fear of abandonment\, difficulty with intimacy\, and a tendency to be people-pleasers. This presentation focuses on understanding social determinants of trauma and how a variety of experiences shape our responses (ie. attachment\, adverse childhood experiences\, and adverse community environments). Additionally\, we will discuss shifting the language and reframing the way we understand the function of certain behaviors and emotions towards survival. Apply a trauma-informed lens to a variety of symptoms and trauma responses\n\n\n\n\nDr. Ramona Roberts is the Senior Executive Director of the Regional Outpatient Services for Caron Treatment Center\, overseeing clinical and administrative operations for several offices. She is currently a level II certified clinical trauma professional with training in multiple trauma modalities including EMDR\, sensorimotor\, IFS\, and CPT. Additionally\, she is a certified experiential therapist with training in trauma-informed experiential therapies (sociometry\, psychodrama\, and adventure-based counseling). Dr. Roberts is the author of Making Sense of What Hasn’t Made Sense\, which is geared towards trauma survivors\, family members\, friends\, and clinicians\, and has garnered both the Counselor’s Choice award in 2022 and the Independent Press’ Distinguished Favorite award in 2023. She has presented research at regional\, national\, and intercontinental conferences and has several publications in professional peer-reviewed journals. She is recognized as a certified trainer of adolescent co-occurring disorders by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. She has won several awards in her career\, including Betty J McDonough Treatment award; Humanitarian of the Year; Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching; and the Inaugural Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Employee Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Award. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Whether grieving the death of a loved one\, a relationship\, an identity\, or life transition\, this workshop invites participants to witness one another and find new pathways toward integration and hope. No prior experience with psychodrama is necessary—just a willingness to engage and be present.\n\nThis event is a personal growth workshop\, not a professional training event or therapy session. Participants are required to complete a short 15-minute intake to discern appropriateness for this workshop. It is expected that participants have an ongoing relationship with a therapist\, sponsor\, or other support to help process emotions after the workshop. \nFacilitator Bio:\nDr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP\, is the Director/Founder of the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy and Director of Trauma Services at Mirmont Treatment Center. He personally found psychodrama to be transformative in his own grieving process after multiple losses related to suicide or overdose. Scott is an internationally recognized psychodramatist\, author\, trainer\, and award-winning trauma therapist. He has written multiple books on trauma\, group therapy\, and psychodrama\, as well as a new research study on the effectiveness of psychodrama in addressing traumatic grief.
