SUMMARY:An Introduction to Sociometry\, Psychodrama\, and Experiential Trauma Group Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Register Here!\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, November 30\, 2018 | 9:00am-3:30pm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$125* | 6 CEUs \n*See Registration Information for available discounts. \nIf we were wounded in action\, healing must also be in action. This full-day workshop will provide participants with action-based group sociometric tools that can be utilized in any group setting. A basic understanding of sociometric and psychodramatic theory will be provided as it intersects with social work theory. This workshop will include a strengths-based psychodramatic vignette and demonstrations of action safety structures for trauma work. Diversity and cultural competence are especially important when working with trauma and when working experientially. Various adaptations of psychodrama and sociometry will be referenced as it relates to working with diverse populations and psychodrama’s popularity internationally. \nParticipants of this course will learn to 1) utilize multiple experiential group tools; 2) identify the significance of spontaneity in psychodrama’s theory of change; 3) discuss the significance of strengths\, containment\, and safety in trauma work; 4) describe at least one theoretical similarity between social work and sociometry/psychodrama; and 5) understand the historical background from which sociometry and psychodrama developed. \nIn addition to license CEU’s\, participants will also receive training hours towards certification in experiential therapy through the American Society of Experiential Therapists (asetonline.com) and board certification in sociometry\, psychodrama\, and group psychotherapy through the American Board of Examiners (psychodramacertification.org). \nThis workshop is appropriate for clinicians working with clinical groups – though the material is also applicable to any group setting (community\, supervision\, education/training\, treatment\, etc.). \nScott Giacomucci\, MSS\, LCSW\, CTTS\, CET III\, CP\, PAT\, is the Director of Experiential Trauma Services at Mirmont Treatment Center and runs a private practice in West Chester\, PA. He serves on the Executive Council of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama and is one of the co-chairs for the 2019 national conference in New Hampshire. Scott has worked on psychodrama teams around the USA\, Canada\, China\, and is scheduled to present in Sweden at the International Association Group Psychotherapy this summer. He is one of three editors working to publish the unfinished autobiography of Jacob Moreno\, the founder of psychodrama. In addition\, he is pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania while developing an MSW-course curriculum that integrates social work with sociometry\, psychodrama\, and experiential trauma therapy. \nAmy Stone\, MSS\, LSW\, Presenter/Assistant for this presentation.

SUMMARY:Experiential Social Group Work with Trauma: Sociometry\, Psychodrama\, & The Therapeutic Spiral Model (TSM)
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nDescription:\nThis strength-based experiential workshop will be facilitated in-action. This workshop will highlight historical and theoretical similarities between social work with groups and sociometry/psychodrama. Participants will experience a stimulating learning process grounded in interpersonal neurobiology research and practical applications for group work in treatment\, education/training\, supervision\, and community settings. The presenter will highlight clinical uses of experiential sociometry and psychodrama using vignettes from his work experience in the aforementioned settings. Participants will join in sociometric group explorations with an emphasis on its capacity for group assessment\, fostering group cohesion\, and enriching inter-group relationships. Safety structures from the Therapeutic Spiral Model\, a clinically-modified psychodrama approach for working safely with trauma\, will be taught with a focus on post-traumatic growth. A short\, psychodramatic vignette\, grounded in positive psychology’s gratitude research\, will be offered as an introduction to the power of psychodrama. Clinical theory and research behind experiential therapies will be outlined\, including role theory\, action theory\, and spontaneity-creativity theory. Creative examples will be offered demonstrating how these experiential tools can be adapted for clinical practice in any setting\, with any population or topic. A short time will be allotted for questions at the end. \nObjectives:\n1. Summarize the importance of safety and strengths in trauma treatment.\n2. Identify at least one way in which social work with groups theory and sociometry/psychodrama theory intersect.\n3. Discuss the process of using at least one experiential sociometric tool with client groups \nThis program is presented and hosted by PSCSW members. Both the presenter and host put a lot of time and preparation to make sure that attendees are receiving a wonderful program and feel welcome at the program. Just as in your professional life when someone cancels last minute\, it has an impact on you. Please be cognizant of this when you register for this program. \nCost: No charge for PSCSW Members to attend; $20 for Non Members to attend.
