SUMMARY:Suicide Prevention and Trauma Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Date & Time: Friday January 31st\, 2025\, 1pm- 2pm (EST) \n1 CE Hour for NBCC\, PA social workers\, counselors\, marriage and family therapists and psychologists. \n*This workshop satisfies the suicide prevention CE requirement for PA license board renewals \nPresented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP \nZoom Workshop \nCost: $50 for professionals; $30 students; (write to us if cost is a barrier) \nThis workshop focuses on the importance of thoughtful suicide assessment throughout the process of trauma treatment. Suicide and adversity are closely related. Trauma survivors have much higher rates of suicide attempts than others. Suicide is often an attempt to escape the pain and suffering associated with past adversity and current traumatic stress or grief. The process of engaging clients in trauma therapy while continuously assessing for suicidality is delicate but essential. As we assist clients in addressing the wounds of past adversity\, we must be thoughtful in helping to keep them within their window of tolerance. This workshop will explore this balance\, draw connections between trauma and suicide\, and discuss the basics of suicide assessment. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDifferentiate between suicidal thoughts\, plans\, and intentions\nDescribe one connection between trauma and suicide\nExplain how the process of engaging in trauma therapy could increase or decrease suicidality\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease follow the following steps to pay and register for this workshop:\nStep 1: Pay for event using Paypal. \nStep 2: Fill out registration form – YOU MUST USE THE SAME EMAIL YOU USE FOR PAYPAL WHEN YOU FILL OUT THE EVENT REGISTRATION FORM.  \nStep 3: You will hear from us with a confirmation email (same you used for PayPal and registration) indicating your registration and information about the event in a few days. SUMMARY:Free Webinar: Looking Beyond Traditional Stage Models of Grief
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Lincoln Blackwell\, MA\, NCC\, CGP\, CTP (he/him)\n\nDate:  Wednesday\, January 15\, 2025 from 12:00 pm- 1:00 PM (EST)\nLocation: Virtual/Zoom\n1 CE for NBCC\, PA LSW/LCSW\, LPC\, LMFT\, and Psychologists.\nCost: FREE\n\n\n\n\nAbout This Webinar: \nGrief and loss are a somewhat universal experience in our lives. What is not so universal is the process we undergo in navigating life after loss. Grief is a process that is unique to the individual\, and no definitive timeline exists for this process. Grief is not something one ‘gets over’\, though it is something we can successfully get through. Many times\, grief has (ripple) effects that are conscious and unconscious\, in the midst of powerful emotion and the uncertainty that occurs in experiencing death. By taking a fresh look at the topic of loss\, participants can gain comfort and confidence in furthering intervention techniques\, complete with a foundational understanding of grief beyond the surface stages\, and how to attend to clients experiencing a range of emotions\, thoughts\, reactions\, and responses. \nLearning Objectives \n\nAcknowledge and explain the uniqueness of each individual’s response to grief\nRecognize the need for awareness in personal responses/attitudes/opinions that arise from the topic of grief\nExplain theoretical considerations and empirical approaches beyond stage models of grief\, as a means to best assess individual client needs\n\n \n\n  \nCE Program Policies and Procedures related to Refunds/Cancellations\, Grievances\, and Conflicts of Interest can be found here. \nFor the workshop schedule or other details or questions about the workshop\, please contact us at Support@PhoenixTraumaCenter.com. \n___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ \nContinuing Education (CE) Approval Statements relevant to this workshop: \n\nContinuing Education (CE) Approval Statements relevant to this workshop:\n\nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. #004115) has been approved as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36)\, Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers\, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.\nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychologists (Lic. # PSY000215) to offer continuing education for psychologists.\nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider\, ACEP No. 7013. SUMMARY:Free Webinar - From Trauma to Transformation: Supporting Transgender Clients During Their Transition
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Chris Klem\, MS (he/him)\n\nDate:  Wednesday\, December 18\, 2024 from 12:00 pm- 1:00 PM (EST)\nLocation: Virtual/Zoom\n1 CE for NBCC\, PA LSW/LCSW\, LPC\, LMFT\, and Psychologists.\nCost: FREE\n–\nRegister HERE\n– \nAbout This Webinar: \nA large percentage of transgender individuals decide to transition\, (medically\, socially or legally) at some point in their lives. Many mental health professionals aim to provide affirming care\, but few of us have the lived experience that can really help us navigate or anticipate potential traumas faced during the transition process. As trauma-informed professionals\, we can reduce the risk of re-traumatization by understanding transition timelines\, barriers to receiving care\, and anticipating common adverse experiences. In this hour-long webinar\, we will introduce these concepts and walk away with a deeper understanding of how to begin supporting transgender clients and implement techniques to foster empathy and create affirming practices. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDescribe common transition challenges\nIdentify challenges and traumas that can occur during the transition process\nUnderstand how past traumatic medical/mental health experiences can shape future client interactions\n\nChris Klem\, he/him is an educator who is passionate about creating safer spaces for individuals to live as their authentic selves.  As a trans man\, Chris has found a way to blend his professional training background with his personal experience to create trainings for folks seeking to increase their LGBTQIA+ competency.  Chris has provided trainings for social workers\, advocates\, therapists\, and crisis counselors on gender and sexuality with a focus on gender affirming care. Having navigated the transition process himself\, he is able to incorporate personal stories\, real-life examples and draws from various research and other professional sources.  Chris will also be offering individual coaching in January 2025 and assists with The UNITY Group: An LGBTQIA+ Healing Space with Sarah Jayne Oltz. \n\nCE Program Policies and Procedures related to Refunds/Cancellations\, Grievances\, and Conflicts of Interest can be found here. 7013. Providence Road Media\, PA 19063 \nFull Weekend Option: 20 CE Hours for NBCC\, and PA social workers\, counselors\, MFTs\, & Psychologists | 20 training hours provided towards experiential and psychodrama certifications. \nAbout the Workshop: \nIn this workshop\, we will use action methods to explore attachment theory\, teachings from interpersonal neurobiology\, and learn sociometry/psychodramatic tools for exploring relationships. The self develops and exists in relationship to others. As humans\, we are social animals and our neurobiological wiring promotes attachment\, connection\, group membership\, and community belonging.  As mental health professionals\, relationships are the vehicle from which we work with our clients – and often the crux of the client’s concerns. Jacob L. Moreno\, the founder of sociometry and psychodrama\, was one of the first to challenge the medical model and suggest that mental illness is a product of relationships\, groups\, and society. Using Moreno’s sociometric system we will explore attachment styles\, social atoms\, and sociodynamics while employing psychodrama to promote psychosocial change. \n \nLearning Objectives: \n1). Identify four different attachment styles and their impact on behavior in groups and therapy. \n2). Explain the social atom theory \n3). Identify three sociometric tools to explore group relationships \n  \nBy purchasing tickets and registering for this event\, you confirm that you agree with the Phoenix Center’s Informed Consent for Experiential Therapy Training. \n___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ \nPlease follow the following steps to pay and register for this workshop:\nStep 1: Pay for event using Paypal. What is not so universal is the process we undergo in navigating life after loss. Grief is a process that is unique to the individual\, and no definitive timeline exists for this process. Grief is not something one ‘gets over’\, though it is something we can successfully get through. Many times\, grief experiences have (ripple) effects that are seen and unseen in the midst of powerful emotion and the reorganization that occurs in experiencing death. By looking at the topic of loss\, participants can gain comfort and confidence in intervention techniques\, complete with a foundational understanding of the stages of grief\, and how to attend to clients experiencing a range of emotions. \n\nLearning Objectives:\n\n\nExplain the process of grief\nRecognize the balance between emotional pain and growth opportunity in grief\nDifferentiate between societal norms and stigma surrounding grief relating to the individual’s experiences\n\n\nUpcoming events in this series: \nAugust 21\, 2024- Free Webinar: Introduction to EMDR \nSeptember 18\, 2024- Free Webinar: Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health \n\n___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ \n\nCE Program Policies and Procedures related to Refunds/Cancellations\, Grievances\, and Conflicts of Interest can be found here. 7013.
