Jacob L. Moreno\, the founder of sociometry and psychodrama\, was one of the first to challenge the medical model and suggest that mental illness is also a product of relationships\, groups\, and society. Many of the ideas articulated over 100 years ago in his triadic system are being validated by modern interpersonal neurobiology and attachment research. As humans\, we are social animals and our neurobiological wiring promotes attachment\, connection\, group membership\, and community belonging. As mental health professionals\, relationships are the vehicle from which we work with our clients – and social factors are often the crux of the client’s concerns. Moreno’s social atom offers practitioners with a dynamic process that can be used as for assessment\, intervention\, treatment planning\, or warm-up to psychodrama. Using experiential methods such as sociometry\, sociodrama\, and psychodrama we will explore attachment styles\, the impact of trauma/addiction on relationships\, and the essential nature of relationships and community in recovery. Psychodramatic and sociometric concepts such as spontaneity\, the warming-up process\, the social atom\, role theory\, tele\, and the sociodynamic effect will be presented while various interventions will be taught\, such as doubling\, mirroring\, role reversal\, sculpting\, role training\, and role playing. The psychodramatic approach will be demonstrated through experiential teaching methods to help familiarize participants with the mechanics of facilitating psychodrama processes and employing its various interventions. Foundational group therapy concepts will also be presented including group development phases\, group dynamics\, the role of group cohesion\, and the efficacy of group psychotherapy as a treatment approach in general. \nLearning Objectives: \n1). Identify four different attachment styles and their impact on one’s behavior in groups and therapy.\n2). Describe three reasons why relationships are important in recovery.\n3). Explain the social atom theory\n4). Identify three sociometric tools to explore group relationships\n5). Describe the process of psychodramatic sculpting using the social atom\n6). Explain the role of group cohesion in effective group therapy practice\n7) Compare how different attachment styles may influence a therapists’ choices or behaviors\n8) Explain how to use the social atom as an assessment\n9) Explain one way to modify the social atom for a specific population\n10) Utilize the social atom as a treatment planning tool\n11) Describe psychodrama’s role theory\n12) Demonstrate at least one sociometry tool for enhancing group cohesion\n13) Utilize the psychodramatic intervention of doubling to enhance safety\, catharsis\, and integration\n14) Explain the value of the role reversal intervention in enhancing empathy\n15) Describe the value of psychodrama and sociometry in deepening one’s understanding of social and relational problems\n16) Define each of the parts of Moreno’s triadic system\n17) Explain the utility of psychodramatic role training in helping clients develop new social skills\n18) Articulate three group therapy developmental phases \n\n\nPURCHASE YOUR TICKET BELOW AND PLEASE FILL OUT OUR REGISTRATION FORM HERE!\n\n\nWeekend Option-21 CE Credits or 21 ISEP Training Hours Registration below:  \n0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960Professional Registration for Friday Sept 16 to Sunday\, Sept 18\, 2022599.00 USD0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960Student Registration for Friday Sept 16 to Sunday\, Sept 18\, 2022425.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\nFriday Only Option – 8 CE Credits or 8 ISEP Training Hours Registration below:  \n0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960Professional Registration for Friday Sept 16\, 2022199.00 USD0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960Student Registration for Friday Sept 16\, 2022125.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\n\nPlease note that this is workshop will include both didactic and experiential learning components. SUMMARY:(Opening Plenary Panel) NASW Conference - National Association of Social Workers
DESCRIPTION:The Time is Right for Social Work\nNational Association of Social Workers Annual Conference \nOnmi Shoreham Hotel\, Washington DC \nOpening Plenary Panel – Thursday June 23rd\, 8:30 – 10:00am – The Time is Right for Social Work \nThis opening plenary will include multiple panelists including Dr. Scott Giacomucci among other plenary panelists. \nWorking Description of Plenary Session:\nThe plenary session\, The Time is Right for Social Work is a topic of immediate importance to social workers and all Americans. Social workers are facing extreme challenges such as COVID-19 pandemic\, systemic racism\, economic inequality\, climate change\, and other crises.  At present\, there are nearly 720\,000 social workers in the United States. That number is expected to grow by 12 percent by the end of the decade\, making social work one of the fastest growing professions in the nation\, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Social workers have played an integral role in securing passage of some of the most important issues of our time including the Civil Rights and Women’s Rights movements and pushed for social programs we now take for granted\, including the minimum wage\, a 40-hour work week\, Social Security and Medicare. The objective of The Time is Right for Social Work plenary session is to discuss the implications of these and other issues to America and world and how social work will continue to play a lead role in addressing resolutions.

SUMMARY:Vicarious Post-Traumatic Growth for Mental Health Professionals: A Free Peer Support Workshop for Self-Care and Community
DESCRIPTION:Vicarious Post-Traumatic Growth for Mental Health Professionals: A Free Peer Support Workshop for Self-Care and Community \n\n*This is a peer-support group\, not a CEU event. \nAbout our bi-monthly workshop series:  \nBurnout\, compassion fatigue\, and vicarious trauma are on the rise for mental health professionals. The importance of self-care\, peer-support\, and community are evident for those working in the field. We must attend to our own needs in order to best support the clients and communities that we work with. This workshops series (every other month) will focus on validating the experience of mental health professionals and cultivating vicarious post-traumatic growth – the phenomenon of professionals growing (personally and professionally) as a result of working with clients who have experienced trauma and adversity. These workshops are open to anyone who is a mental health professional (therapists\, social workers\, supervisors\, caseworkers\, support staff\, administrators\, educators\, marketers\, etc.). Each session will be facilitated by a Phoenix Center staff member employing various experiential group processes to promote peer support\, connection\, and restoration. \nNext Session: \nDate & Time: Monday June 6\, 2022\, from 6:30-8:30pm \nLocation: Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, 524 N. Providence Road Media PA 19063 (in lower floor event space) \nAll participants must register in advance. \nREGISTER HERE  \n Space is limited to 25 participants per workshop. If you are no longer able to attend a workshop\, please email us at support@phoenixtraumacenter.com within 72 hours’ notice so we can notify other participants in our waiting list of availability. Spots are first come\, first serve basis. \nJune’s workshop is led by Brian Gallagher\, MSW\, LSW\n \nBrian Gallagher\, MSW\, LSW\, is a Phoenix Center trauma therapist who first learned peer-counseling as a high school student at the age of 16. He has practiced this profound process since then\, as both a client and a counselor\, and understands some key things about how we get hurt and how we heal. \nMore information on Employing a Peer-Counseling Model workshop:  \nProfessional Healing Partnerships (PHPs) are relationships in which therapeutic professionals exchange listening time with one another to help each other more deeply process the vicarious trauma they experience in their practice. Using a unique\, trauma-informed peer-counseling model that understands our innate physiological healing mechanisms\, PHPs allow people to deliberately and responsibly engage cathartic and restorative processes to release physical and emotional tension\, leaving them with more free\, relaxed attention for their work and relationships. \nRegistration required: Space is limited to 25 participants. Please email us if you are not able to attend so we can provide your spot to someone else. Register here!  \n*Please note that all participants will be required to wear a mask while in the building due to the rising covid-19 cases in Delaware County and the Philadelphia area. Covid policies are subject to change based on changes in covid-19 cases leading up to the date of the event.

SUMMARY:PAGPS/APNAPA Conference - A Philadelphia Area Group Psychotherapy Society & American Psychiatric Nurses Association Conference
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary Group Therapy in a (Hopefully!) Post Pandemic World\nA Two Day Conference: April 30 – May 1\, 2022\nWidener University\, Chester\, PA \nAll day Saturday\, April 30\, 2022 (9:30-12:30 and 2:00-5:00) \nA-1: Trauma-Focused Psychodrama: Safe Experiential Processes for Embodied Healing\nDr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP \nThis workshop presents trauma-focused psychodrama which moves the group process beyond\nwords and into action. The importance of safety and strengths for trauma work will be\nhighlighted along with a basic introduction to Moreno’s triadic system – Sociometry\,\nPsychodrama\, and Group Psychotherapy. As the field of neuroscience and trauma research\nexpands\, evidence points to trauma’s impact on the body and the importance of holistic\ninterventions that involve the whole person (body\, mind\, social\, spirit). Participants in this\nworkshop will experience the power of experiential methods through strengths-based\npsychodrama while learning multiple experiential tools that can be incorporated into practice in\ndiverse settings. \n1. Develop practitioners’ skills in leading process groups\nThis workshop will provide group therapists with additional skills for enhancing process\ngroups\, assessing the sociodynamics of a group\, and engaging participants in the group\nprocess.\n2. Examine the use of groups for healing trauma\nThis workshop will focus on psychodrama as an experiential and holistic approach to\ntrauma healing supported by neuroscience and clinical research. Psychodrama allows\nclients to have corrective emotional experiences impossible otherwise while renegotiating\nhow the body keeps the score.\n3. Identify the needs of traumatized professional caregivers and how group process may\npromote healing\nThough this is a Saturday group led like a therapy group\, we will not do a psychodrama\nfocused on a participant’s individual trauma. Instead\, the psychodrama in the afternoon\nwill focus on strengths\, support\, professional goals\, or vicarious post-traumatic growth\n(depending on the group’s choice)\n4. Identify methods for reawakening the human-to-human kindness connection\nStrength-based processes demonstrated in the workshop certainly will tap into the\nhuman-to-human kindness connection and provide participants with methods for\nreawakening it within their own groups/communities.\n5. Use experiential modalities to enhance understanding of group process in outpatient and\ninpatient groups\nThis workshop teaches and demonstrates psychodrama\, the first experiential therapy\n(now over 100 years old). The facilitator will include clinical examples and insight\nrelated to psychodrama practice across the treatment continuum based on his experience\nin inpatient\, PHP\, outpatient\, and multi-day workshops.

The IFS model invites us to approach our and others’ internal worlds with curiosity\, compassion\, connectedness\, clarity\, courage\, calm\, confidence\, and creativity. IFS asserts that each of us has many parts inside of us who\, through trauma or other emotional injury\, are catapulted into specific roles in order to keep us safe. IFS allows us to heal our parts\, release them from these roles\, and cultivate harmonious internal relationships and interactions. This workshop will integrate didactic and experiential components to support professionals in learning the IFS model to use with clients in a professional setting–no previous IFS knowledge is required.  \nLearning Objectives: \n\nExplain an overview of the IFS model including different parts and Self.\nDescribe one of the steps (the 6F’s) in IFS when working with a part\nDemonstrate awareness of therapist’s parts that get activated in a client session\nIntegrate basic IFS principles\, language and techniques into my work\n\nPlease note that the experiential learning structures include demonstrations of IFS therapy and other experiential processes which often include (optional) personal disclosures from participants. While personal growth is often a byproduct of experiential learning in IFS therapy\, the primary purpose of this workshop is training. If you are seeking a workshop for personal growth\, or seeking a professional training event that is entirely didactic (lecture/PowerPoint)\, this is probably not the best workshop for you. \n*Please note that all participants will be required to wear a mask while in the building due to the rising covid-19 cases in Delaware County and the Philadelphia area. Covid policies are subject to change based on changes in covid-19 cases leading up to the date of the event. \nIf you have any questions\, please email either Rachel Longer (rachel@phoenixtraumacenter.com) or Lauren Sullivan (lauren@phoenixtraumacenter.com). \n \nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. #004115) has been approved as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36)\, Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers\, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors.
