SUMMARY:The Magic and Science of Trauma-Focused Psychodrama: Spirit\, Mind\, and Body in Action (Ukraine Conference Plenary Presentation)
DESCRIPTION:BETWEEN BODY AND SOUL \nASSOCIATION OF PSYCHOTHERAPISTS AND PSYCHOANALYSTS OF UKRAINE \nEUROPEAN FEDERATION FOR PSYCHOANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY \nSeptember 10-12\, 2021 | Online Conference \n  \nThe Magic and Science of Trauma-Focused Psychodrama: Spirit\, Mind\, and Body in Action \nDr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, FAAETS\, PAT \nPlenary Presentation \n  \nPsychodrama’s existential philosophy suggests that human beings are first and foremost cosmic beings. Jacob Moreno\, psychodrama’s founder\, developed a mystical philosophy that honors the inherent power and worth of every human. His action-methods bring the body and the soul into treatment while also emphasizing psychosocial realities. Considering the biopsychosocial-spiritual impacts of trauma\, psychodrama is uniquely situated as a treatment approach to renegotiate the impacts of trauma. Psychodrama allows us to go places that would be impossible otherwise. On the psychodrama stage\, one can speak to deceased loved ones\, travel forward in time\, revisit painful moments in the past\, speak to God\, and engage in dialogue with parts of self. Trauma-focused psychodrama research continues to emerge suggesting its effectiveness in treatment PTSD and offering clients corrective emotional experiences that may be impossible otherwise. This presentation will explore both the magic and the science of trauma-focused psychodrama as a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach. \n  \nDr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, FAAETS\, PAT is the Director/Founder of the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy; Director of Trauma Services at Mirmont Treatment Center; and Adjunct Professor & Research Associate at Bryn Mawr College. Scott is Board-Certified in Clinical Social Work and holds certifications in sociometry\, psychodrama\, and group psychotherapy\, EMDR\, experiential therapy\, and trauma work. He is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and has received multiple awards for his leadership\, scholarship\, and clinical work. He serves on the Executive Council of ASGPP and is co-chair of the Research Committee. His textbook\, Social Work\, Sociometry\, & Psychodrama published by Springer Nature (2021)\, has been downloaded over 50\,000 times. He is Co-Chief Editor of the Journal of Psychodrama\, Sociometry\, and Group Psychotherapy\, is Co-Editor of the first international psychodrama book series\, and co-edited the Autobiography of a Genius (2019) by Jacob Moreno. \n

SUMMARY:Part II: Getting Curious: An Introduction to the Internal Family Systems Model
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rachel Longer\, MSS\, LSW\, CET II & Lauren Sullivan\, Med\, MS\, NCC \nDate & Time: Thursday\, May 27\, 2021\, | 5:00 – 6:00 PM (EST)  (this is a continuation of our first workshop which took place on Thursday\, May 20\, 2021) \nOnline Offering via Zoom (register for Zoom link) \nSuggested Donation\, if financially able\, $40 for both sessions. \n\n\n \n\n\nThis two-part personal growth workshop will additionally be offered in September 2021 & January 2022. If you are unable to join us this May\, please stay tuned for information regarding the September & January offerings. \n Workshop Description:   \nHave you ever tried to quiet anxious thoughts only to have them return even louder than before? Do you sometimes feel taken over by intense emotions? Do you ever think “I wish I could just stop being so critical/anxious/sad…)? If so\, (and who hasn’t!) then you have met some “parts” of you. In the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model\, these parts serve as protectors from feelings that we “never again” want to experience\, and they work hard to shield the more tender parts in our system. Curious to learn more? \nPlease join Rachel Longer and Lauren Sullivan for a two-part personal growth workshop introduction to the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. This workshop is open to those who would like to become more curious and compassionate with themselves and will feature an exploration of your own internal system. This workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about how to apply the model to oneself. \nInternal Family Systems Therapy was developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz and is perhaps the most validating and healing form of psychotherapy that exists today. The IFS model invites us to approach our internal worlds from a place of “Self\,” which is characterized by the qualities of curiosity\, compassion\, connectedness\, clarity\, courage\, calm\, confidence\, and creativity. IFS asserts that each of us has many parts inside of us who\, through trauma or other emotional injuries\, are catapulted into specific roles in order to keep us safe. IFS allows us to heal our parts\, release them from these roles\, and cultivate harmonious internal relationships and interactions. In this two-part workshop\, participants will focus inside\, identify parts\, access Self-energy\, interact with parts from a place of Self\, and connect with a community of other curious and compassionate folks. \nIf you have any questions\, please email either Rachel Longer at rachel@phoenixtraumacenter.com or Lauren Sullivan at lauren@phoenixtraumacenter.com) \n

SUMMARY:Part I: Getting Curious: An Introduction to the Internal Family Systems Model
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Rachel Longer\, MSS\, LSW\, CET II & Lauren Sullivan\, Med\, MS\, NCC \nDate & Time: Thursday\, May 20 & Thursday\, May 27\, 2021 | 5:00 – 6:00 PM (EST) \nOnline Offering via Zoom (register for Zoom link) \nSuggested Donation\, if financially able\, $40 for both sessions \n\n\n \n\n\nThis two-part personal growth workshop will additionally be offered in September 2021 & January 2022.

SUMMARY:Depicting the Power of Relationships with the Social Atom
DESCRIPTION:Zoom Workshop | Cost: $95; $75 students; (write to us if cost is a barrier)| 4 CE hours for PA social workers\, counselors\,  marriage and family therapist\, psychologists & training hours for ABESPGP & ISEP \nPresented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, FAAETS\, PAT \nRelationships are one of the most important aspects of anyone’s life. Relationships have the power to promote safety\, healing\, and happiness – as well as trauma\, neglect\, and hopelessness. Jacob Moreno’s theory of interpersonal relations is articulated through the social atom. The social atom\, is a relational map which depicts an individual within the web of their closest relationships – “an individual is tied to his social atom as closely as to his body”. The importance of relationships\, a social work core value\, is further established through interpersonal neurobiology research. This workshop will present the social atom\, a foundational sociometry/psychodrama tool. The social atom will be offered as a person-in-environment assessment as well as a warm-up process for psychodramatic action. \nNote: this event will include powerpoint\, theory\, self-reflection\, sociometry\, and a psychodrama process \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDefine the Social Atom\nDescribe one way the social atom relates to social work\nExplain one use of the social atom in clinical work\n\n0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960February 9\, 2021 Depicting the Power of Relationships with the Social Atom - Regular Registration95.00 USD0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960Feb 9\, 2021 Depicting the Power of Relationships with the Social Atom- Student Registration75.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\n \nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. #004115) has been approved as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36)\, Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers\, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors. SUMMARY:Role Theory in Action: The Self Emerges from Roles
DESCRIPTION:Role Theory in Action: The Self Emerges from Roles \nZoom Workshop | Cost: $80; $60 students; (if cost is your only barrier to attending\, write to us)| 3 CE hours for \nDr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, FAAETS\, PAT \nThis workshop will offer a mix of didactic teaching\, pen/paper exercises for role assessment\, and experiential role-playing. The personality\, or the self\, is composed of all the roles one plays in their life. Role theory offers a foundational and non-pathologizing understanding of the self in a biopsychosocial context. \nEveryone has roles (personal and professional) that we would like to expand and roles that we would like to reduce in our lives. The human being is essentially a role-player. Our roles exist in complex reciprocity with other roles within our self\, our social atom\, and our communities. This workshop will explore Morenean role theory as it relates to intrapsychic\, somatic\, psychodramatic\, and social roles while also introducing role development stages and other role phenomena. Content from Scott’s forthcoming book will be presented in this workshop. \n0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960January 13\, 2021 Regular Registration80.00 USD0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960January 13\, 2021 Student Registration60.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address. \nLearning Objectives: \nExplain the relationship between roles and the self \nDescribe the role atom assessment \nIdentify the three stages of role development \n  \n \n  \nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. SUMMARY:One-to-One Psychodrama Teletherapy: Techniques from Brazilian Psychodrama
DESCRIPTION:One-to-One Psychodrama Teletherapy: Techniques from Brazilian Psychodrama\nAN EXPERIENTIAL ONLINE ZOOM WORKSHOP \nBY ZOLI FIGUSCH (BRITISH PSYCHODRAMA ASSOCIATION\, UK) \n THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF ‘INTERNAL PSYCHODRAMA’ AND  ‘RELATIONSHIP PSYCHOTHERAPY’ \nSaturday November 7th\, 2020 9:00am – 4:30pm (EST)  |  6 CE Hours for national counselors (NBCC); Pennsylvania counselors\, social workers\, marriage and family therapists\, & psychologists + 6 training hours for ISEP & ABESPGP \nNovember 7th One-to-One Brazilian Psychodrama01234567891011121314151617181920Nov 7th Registration135.00 USD01234567891011121314151617181920Nov 7th Student Registration85.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\nThis experiential workshop will present and demonstrate one-to-one psychodrama techniques that can be used when working with individuals. It will focus particularly on two approaches developed by Brazilian psychodramatists\, but little known outside of Brazil\, and their adaptation to the current challenges of working from a distance through a computer screen. \n‘Internal psychodrama’ – This technique works with internal and symbolic dramatization\, with the client visualizing and experiencing the action\, but without physically executing it. Instead\, the dramatic interaction with characters happens internally/mentally. It has been developed and furthered by psychodramatists such as Bustos\, Dias\, Godoy and Fonseca. \n‘Relationship psychotherapy’ – This is a working modality developed by Jose Fonseca\, a technique derived from analytical therapy and psychodrama\, and described as a minimalist version of psychodrama. The expression ‘relationship psychotherapy’ emphasizes the relational philosophy (Martin Buber) within the therapeutic work\, and it deals with the client-therapist relationship (here and now)\, the client’s external relationships\, and the relationships from the client’s internal world (the client’s internal sociometry). Scenes are played out verbally; there is no external dramatic action\, no stage or stage markings\, and no physical interaction. \nThe session will be experiential\, with demonstrations of these techniques\, allowing participants to consider how to incorporate them into their own practice. We will also look at a wider theoretical framework for individual psychodrama work\, and more specifically the theoretical underpinnings of ‘internal psychodrama’ and ‘relationship psychotherapy’. \nLearning objectives: \n\nIntegrate at least one aspect of ‘internal psychodrama’ and ‘relationship psychotherapy’ into my practice\nIdentify one unique theoretical element of ‘internal psychodrama’ and of ‘relationship psychotherapy’\nDescribe one similarity and difference between group psychodrama and individual psychodrama\n\nZOLI FIGUSCH is a psychodrama psychotherapist\, supervisor and trainer\, a member of the British Psychodrama Association (BPA) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Zoli is a member of the BPA’s Executive Committee and their representative to FEPTO. He is also a member of the North-West Psychodrama Association\, and the series editor of the newly re-published series of J.L. Moreno’s books. For his involvement with this work\, in 2013 he received the ASGPP’s  ’Zerka T. Moreno’ Award.  Zoli is the editor of three psychodrama books: ‘Sambadrama – The Arena of Brazilian Psychodrama’; ‘From one-to-one psychodrama to large group socio-psychodrama’; and ‘The J.L. Moreno memorial photo album’. Zoli works as a principal psychotherapist at a specialist psychotherapy service for clients with personality disorders\, in Maidstone\, UK. \n \nPhoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy\, LLC (Lic. SUMMARY:Moreno & Maslow: Self-Actualization Through Psychodrama
DESCRIPTION:Moreno & Maslow: Self-Actualization Through Psychodrama \nAugust 5th 7-10pm EST Online Workshop \nDr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, FAAETS\, PAT \nASGPP Fundraiser \nIn this workshop we will explore misconceptions about Maslow’s work (did you know Maslow never created a “pyramid” to depict his hierarchy of needs?); the historical and philosophical intersections of Maslow and Moreno’s approaches; and our own progress towards visions of our best selves. The drive towards a life worth living with purpose and meaning is inherent in every human being. Maslow and the humanistic psychologists label this as self-actualization\, which is also described as one’s achievement of their full potential as a human being. Moreno’s philosophy of human nature describes a similar idea\, elevating all people as potential “geniuses\,” “gods\,” and “co-creators”. Beyond individual self-actualization\, Maslow describes the experience of “transcendence” which is a merging of self and the world. This new science of self-actualization and transcendence will be presented through the lens of Morenean Sociatry. While psychodrama is often thought of as only a psychotherapy approach\, Moreno intended for psychodrama to transcend the medical model as a way of life that could empower human beings towards their full potential and towards a therapeutic society. Join us for an informative and experiential workshop that will challenge you to actualize the best version of yourself while supporting others to do the same! \nLearning Objectives: Identify one similarity between Moreno and Maslow’s philosophies; Describe the concept of self-actualization; Explain one way that psychodrama can help in the movement towards self-actualization \nRegister HERE
