Heather Baron, MEd, MSS, LCSW, (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical social worker and certified EMDR therapist. She has a Master’s of Education from Antioch University and a Master’s of Social Service from Bryn Mawr College. She also has a certificate of Advanced Studies in Trauma Counseling from Thomas Jefferson University and a Grief Support Specialist Certificate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and she is certified in Telemental Health. She specializes in helping people heal from trauma and grief and also has experience supporting clients in addressing many other types of issues.
Regularly pursuing ongoing training, Heather stays current on new research, and her work is grounded in an understanding of how both trauma and therapy techniques affect the brain. She primarily uses EMDR therapy and integrates ideas and techniques from other therapies and theories when appropriate. A certified yoga teacher, she incorporates yoga, meditation, and mindfulness into her work when useful and based on client interest.
As an Outpatient Therapist in community mental health programs, Heather has worked with diverse clients with a range of mental health challenges. She is culturally sensitive, anti-racist and LGBTQ+, poly and kink affirming, and she welcomes clients of all backgrounds, identities, abilities and body types. Her approach is attachment- and strengths-based, relational and collaborative, and she uses empathy and curiosity to connect with clients as individuals.
Heather’s typical fee is $150 for individual therapy (50 min); she is able to work on a sliding scale if needed. Although she only works on a self-pay basis, she is able to provide documentation for clients to submit for out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider.
