These psychodramatic structures can be modified for any topic or group setting but are especially useful in groups for addictions or mental health treatment settings. \n\nLearning Objectives:\n1. Describe two psychodrama structures\n2. Identify the value of structured psychodramas for treatment settings\n3. SUMMARY:Psychodrama\, Addiction\, and Defenses: From Protection to Connection
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP \n\n\nDates: Friday\, September 18\, 2026 – Sunday\, September 20\, 2026 8:30AM – 5:30PM (Sunday until 3:30PM)– 21 CE Hours \nCost: $675 Professionals | $465 students (*write to us if cost is your only barrier) \nFriday Only Option (7 CEs) – Cost: $250 Professionals | $165 Students \nLocation: Phoenix Center – 524 N. Providence Road Media\, PA 19063 \n21 CE Hours for NBCC\, and PA social workers\, counselors\, MFTs\, & Psychologists | 21 training hours provided towards experiential and psychodrama certifications. \n(This workshop is included in the 2026 Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Training Program.) \nAbout the Workshop\nThis experiential training explores the intersection of addiction\, defenses\, and psychodrama. Addiction is often rooted in pain\, trauma\, and shame and protected by layers of psychological defenses. These defense mechanisms and protector parts help with survival\, safety\, and comfort\, but may block insight\, connection\, or change. This workshop offers a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework for working with defenses in psychodrama. Participants will learn how to work in action with various types of defenses to promote recovery from trauma\, addiction\, and mental health. \nAction methods such as doubling\, role reversal\, and concretization will be demonstrated as tools to explore one’s relationship to defenses while preserving client safety and autonomy. Theoretical concepts from Moreno\, psychodynamic theory\, and trauma-informed care will be integrated into the teaching and practice. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify multiple psychodramatic interventions for working with defenses\nDescribe at least two sociometric exercises for exploring defenses in a group\nExplain the value of psychodrama for addiction treatment and recovery\n\nBy purchasing tickets and registering for this event\, you confirm that you agree with the Phoenix Center’s Informed Consent for Experiential Training Workshops and our workshop\, cancellation\, and refund policies. \n\nTo Register for this Workshop\nPlease complete Steps 1 and 2.  Registration is not confirmed until payment is received.\nStep 1: Pay for the event by using our Paypal Payment System (you can enter a credit card as a payment option). \n01234567891011121314151617181920Professional Registration for 9/18-26-9/20/26 - Psychodrama\, Addiction\, and Defenses: From Protection to Connection675.00 USD01234567891011121314151617181920Student Registration for 9/18-26-9/20/26 - Psychodrama\, Addiction\, and Defenses: From Protection to Connection465.00 USD012345678910Friday Only Option for 9/18-26-9/20/26 - Psychodrama\, Addiction\, and Defenses: From Protection to Connection250.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\nStep 2: Fill out the registration form using the same email you used for Paypal. \n \nStep 3: You will hear from us with a confirmation email (the same one you used for PayPal and registration) indicating your registration and information about the event in a few days. DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP \nDates: Monday-Friday\, November 9\, 2026 – November 13\, 2026 (8:30AM-5:30PM) – 35 CE Hours \nCost: $1150 Professionals | $800 students (this fee guarantees a directing opportunity) – NOTE that prior attendance at a multi-day training with Dr. Scott is required to purchase a directing ticket \n$850 (Reduced cost option for those interested in attending without directing practice) \nPhoenix Center – 524 N. Providence Road Media\, PA 19063 \n35 CE Hours for NBCC\, and PA social workers\, counselors\, MFTs\, & Psychologists | 35 training hours provided towards experiential and psychodrama certifications. \nAbout the Workshop\nThis psychodrama directing practice is designed for psychodrama students\, practitioners\, and trainers-in-training to enhance their directing through a trauma-informed lens. Participants will have the opportunity to facilitate a group psychodrama and receive feedback from their peers and the trainer. Feedback will be provided based on the psychodrama certification competencies outlined by the ABE\, as well as trauma-informed psychodrama considerations. Each participant will also have the opportunity to be the protagonist and play auxiliary roles to learn psychodrama from the inside-out. \nPsychodrama facilitation competencies emphasized will include a demonstrated understanding of group phases\, the warming-up process\, spontaneity-creativity theory\, role theory\, protagonist selection\, contracting\, scene setting\, concretization\, doubling\, the mirror position\, role reversal\, soliloquy\, directing auxiliaries and the audience\, facilitating catharsis safely\,  facilitating closure/integration\, containment\, strength-based roles\, trauma-informed principles in psychodrama\, attending to issues of diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in psychodrama\, subroles of the director\, and facilitating the sharing phase of a psychodrama session. \nPrevious Experience\nWhile this is a training workshop\, and training will be held as the priority\, there will be a multitude of secondary opportunities for personal growth. The workshop tickets with directing practice are designed for intermediate and advanced psychodrama students and would not be the best workshop for someone who has no prior psychodrama training. Participants are expected to have past experiential/psychodrama experience as a prerequisite for purchasing a ticket with directing practice\, as well as a foundational understanding of psychodrama’s methodology. \nTickets without directing practice are open to anyone\, regardless of past psychodrama experience. This workshop will be attractive for anyone seeking to enhance their psychodrama facilitation skills – and especially for professionals with some psychodrama experience seeking to more fully put their learning into action. Professionals warming-up to complete their CP/TEP onsite exams will also find this workshop helpful as the trainer will provide feedback using the same competencies outlined for the CP/TEP onsite exams. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nExplain at least two psychodrama interventions\nIdentify the three phases of a psychodrama group\nDescribe at least two trauma-informed considerations for psychodrama directing\n\nBy purchasing tickets and registering for this event\, you confirm that you agree with the Phoenix Center’s Informed Consent for Experiential Training Workshops and our workshop\, cancellation\, and refund policies. \nTo Register for this Workshop\nPlease complete Steps 1 and 2.  Registration is not confirmed until payment is received.\nStep 1: Pay for the event by using our Paypal Payment System (you can enter a credit card as a payment option). \n01234567891011121314151617181920Professional Registration for 11/9/26-11/13/26: Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Practice1150.00 USD01234567891011121314151617181920Student Registration for 11/9/26-11/13/26: Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Practice800.00 USD012345678910Friday Only Option for 11/9/26-11/13/26: Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Practice850.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\nStep 2: Fill out the registration form using the same email you used for Paypal. \n \nStep 3: You will hear from us with a confirmation email (same you used for PayPal and registration) indicating your registration and information about the event in a few days. SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Dr. Scott Giacomucci\, DSW\, LCSW\, BCD\, CGP\, FAAETS\, TEP \nDates: March 3-7\, 2027 (Wednesday-Sunday) | 8:30-5:30PM \nCost: $1\,150 Professionals | $800 students (*write to us if cost is your only barrier) \nNon-Directing Option: $850 (reduced cost option for those interested in attending without directing practice) \nLocation: 524 N Providence Rd. Media\, PA 19063 \n35 CE Hours for APA\, NBCC\, and PA social workers\, counselors\, MFTs\, & Psychologists | 35 training hours provided towards experiential and psychodrama certifications. \nYou will receive an email with information about the workshop after your registration.\n\nPlease use the same email you used for PayPal to fill out this registration form. \nAfter you are done filling out this form\, please go to our website to pay for your registration using PayPal.\n\nAbout the Workshop: \nThis psychodrama directing intensive is designed for psychodrama students\, practitioners\, and trainers-in-training to enhance their directing through a trauma-informed lens. \n\nPsychodrama facilitation competencies emphasized will include a demonstrated understanding of group phases\, the warming-up process\, spontaneity-creativity theory\, role theory\, protagonist selection\, contracting\, scene setting\, concretization\, doubling\, the mirror position\, role reversal\, soliloquy\, directing auxiliaries and the audience\, facilitating catharsis safely\,  facilitating closure/integration\, containment\, strength-based roles\, trauma-informed principles in psychodrama\, attending to issues of diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in psychodrama\, subroles of the director\, and facilitating the sharing phase of a psychodrama session. Participants are expected to have past experiential/psychodrama experience as a prerequisite for purchasing a ticket with directing practice\, as well as a foundational understanding of psychodrama’s methodology.Tickets without directing practice are open to anyone\, regardless of past psychodrama experience. This workshop will be attractive for anyone seeking to enhance their psychodrama facilitation skills – and especially for professionals with some psychodrama experience seeking to more fully put their learning into action. Professionals warming-up to complete their CP/TEP onsite exams will also find this workshop helpful as the trainer will provide feedback using the same competencies outlined for the CP/TEP onsite exams.\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\nExplain at least two psychodrama interventions\nIdentify the three phases of a psychodrama group\nDescribe at least two trauma-informed considerations for psychodrama directing\n\nBy purchasing tickets and registering for this event\, you confirm that you agree with the Phoenix Center’s Informed Consent for Experiential Training Workshops and our workshop\, cancellation\, and refund policies. \nTo Register for this Workshop\nPlease complete Steps 1 and 2.  Registration is not confirmed until payment is received.\nStep 1: Pay for the event by using our Paypal Payment System (you can enter a credit card as a payment option). \n01234567891011121314151617181920Professional Directing 3/3-3/7/27: Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Intensive1150.00 USD01234567891011121314151617181920Student Directing 3/3-3/7/27: Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Intensive800.00 USD01234567891011121314151617181920Non-Directing 3/3-3/7/27: Trauma-Informed Psychodrama Directing Intensive850.00 USDYour eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address. \nStep 2: Fill out the registration form using the same email you used for Paypal. \n \nStep 3: You will hear from us with a confirmation email (same you used for PayPal and registration) indicating your registration and information about the event in a few days.
