About this Webinar:

Music has many therapeutic uses and can aid trauma recovery by helping to reduce anxiety and improve a sense of connection. Join Board Certified Music Therapist and Licensed Social Worker Meryl Lammers to learn music-based interventions any therapist can use when working with people with trauma histories. You will also be learning what music therapy is and isn’t, when to refer to a music therapist, and when the non-music therapist clinician should consider using music in their work.

About the Presenter:

Meryl Lammers (she/her/hers) is an Experiential Trauma Therapist and has been a practicing board-certified music therapist since 2005. Meryl attended Bryn Mawr’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She has 20 years of experience helping people navigate grief, loss, end of life care, substance use disorders, and trauma. She also works with people of all ages on the Autism Spectrum and those with a wide range of developmental and cognitive abilities.

Her early connection to music, song-writing, performance led Meryl into pursuing music therapy as a career. She incorporates EMDR, IFS, and psychodrama in sessions. Meryl is a life-long student and believes that expanding her skill set will help to continue to meet the individual needs of her clients.  Meryl’s has a humanistic, relational, and strengths-based approach to psychotherapy.  She understands that the creative healing arts is rooted in the belief that each person holds the innate power to heal, grow, and flourish.  Meryl believes that the therapist is a guide to help navigate the process. Coming from a trauma-informed lens, Meryl also understands the impact that traumatic experiences can have and is dedicated to providing individualized care.
