About the Webinar:
This webinar explores the lasting effects of growing up in a dysfunctional environment and the impact of childhood trauma on relationships today. The value of trauma therapy and other support groups, such as Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families (ACOA), will be discussed with emphasis on their value for trauma survivors. Some examples of the lasting effects of growing up in a dysfunctional environment are difficulty with emotional regulation, trouble with relationships, issues with self-esteem, and childhood trauma. Common traits associated with being raised in a dysfunctional environment involve fear of abandonment, difficulty with intimacy, and a tendency to be people-pleasers. In recovery, trauma therapy and programs like ACOA encourage healing, self-awareness, developing coping mechanisms, and building healthy relationships.
