About this workshop:

Therapists dedicate themselves entirely to their clients, often encountering the boundaries of their attention due to the emotional weight of clients’ traumas. Unresolved emotions and vicarious trauma within therapists themselves can lead to significant challenges, affecting various aspects of their lives. Regularly processing these emotions enables therapists to be more present and relaxed, preventing past experiences from hindering their work and personal relationships. While burnout, vicarious trauma, and countertransference are inevitable in the field, consistent attention to them can mitigate their impact on therapists’ professional and personal lives. This workshop offers therapists strategies to address and process the emotional toll of their work, enhancing their ability to remain present and effective while preventing the negative impacts of burnout, vicarious trauma, and countertransference.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe countertransference
  2. Explain the importance of therapists’ self-care
  3. Identify how the professionals past trauma can impact their work today
