 Workshop Description:

Have you ever tried to quiet anxious thoughts only to have them return even louder than before? Do you sometimes feel taken over by intense emotions? Do you ever think “I wish I could just stop being so critical/anxious/sad…)? If so, (and who hasn’t!) then you have met some “parts” of you. In the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, these parts serve as protectors from feelings that we “never again” want to experience, and they work hard to shield the more tender parts in our system. Curious to learn more?

Please join Rachel Longer and Lauren Sullivan for a two-part personal growth workshop introduction to the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. This workshop is open to those who would like to become more curious and compassionate with themselves and will feature an exploration of your own internal system. This workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about how to apply the model to oneself.

Internal Family Systems Therapy was developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz and is perhaps the most validating and healing form of psychotherapy that exists today. The IFS model invites us to approach our internal worlds from a place of “Self,” which is characterized by the qualities of curiosity, compassion, connectedness, clarity, courage, calm, confidence, and creativity. IFS asserts that each of us has many parts inside of us who, through trauma or other emotional injuries, are catapulted into specific roles in order to keep us safe. IFS allows us to heal our parts, release them from these roles, and cultivate harmonious internal relationships and interactions. In this two-part workshop, participants will focus inside, identify parts, access Self-energy, interact with parts from a place of Self, and connect with a community of other curious and compassionate folks.
