This workshop is designed for professionals and psychodrama trainees interested in an intensive training focused on learning to direct psychodramas in individual sessions. The workshop will provide all participants with a practicum experience of facilitating 1-1 psychodrama using the empty chair and concretization. Didactic content will be presented on the history, theory, and practice of 1-1 psychodrama including its strengths and limitations. Trauma-informed principles will be integrated with a focus on strengths, safety, and post-traumatic growth. Multiple approaches and interventions in 1-1 psychodrama will be offered including use of the empty chair, concretization, doubling, role reversal, the mirror, and future projection.

*Please note that this is workshop will include both didactic and experiential learning components. The experiential learning structures include demonstrations of psychodrama and other experiential processes which often include (optional) personal disclosures from participants. While personal growth is often a byproduct of experiential learning in psychodrama, the primary purpose of this workshop is training. If you are seeking a workshop for personal growth, or seeking a professional training event that is entirely didactic (lecture/powerpoint), this is probably not the best workshop for you.
