Grief is a universal experience, though it expresses itself in various ways, shaped by individual circumstances and the nature of the loss. Trauma and loss are often interconnected; in every traumatic experience, there is also a sense of loss. At the core of every memory and every traumatic experience lies loss, whether it involves the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the loss of feelings. We may feel as though we’ve lost a part of ourselves, along with trust, hope, innocence, or faith.

Over the years, we have come to recognize an essential truth: before individuals can begin a healthy grieving process, they often need to address the trauma associated with their loss. The distress that arises from a significant loss can hinder the grieving journey, making it difficult for people to achieve the closure they deserve. At The Phoenix Center, our experienced therapists specialize in addressing both trauma and loss. We are committed to guiding clients through the complexities of their experiences and fully engaging them in the healing process of grieving.

Types of Therapy that Aid in Healing

Our therapists utilize a variety of modalities and treatment options to support you through the grieving process. EMDR is one modality recognized as a highly effective treatment option for processing trauma and loss. Psychodrama is another valuable method for processing grief and loss, allowing clients to journey through time to find closure with a deceased loved one or to express feelings of anger toward someone who has caused them pain or loss.

Grieving is a personal journey, and no two experiences are the same. Our therapists honor the uniqueness of each client and create individualized treatment plans based on a client’s needs and preferences. Not only do our therapists offer integrative treatment plans, but as a Center, we can support clients in a variety of ways, including individual therapy, group therapy, support groups, and workshops. Healing often doesn’t happen in isolation, and we believe a strong community can help foster post-traumatic growth.
