Phoenix Trauma Therapy, EMDR, Therapists in Delaware County, PA

The Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy is named after the legendary figure of the phoenix. Mythology suggests that the phoenix dies and is reborn from its own ashes – it is a symbol of transformation and resilience. The phenomenon of growing after experiencing trauma has been labeled “Post-Traumatic Growth”. This is exactly what we strive to help our clients cultivate in their lives, through Individual Therapy and Group Therapy.

What is Individual Therapy?

Phoenix Center Therapy, Trauma, Loss, Addiction

When we think of therapy, we often envision ourselves in a room with a therapist. This type of treatment is known as individual therapy. At our center, we provide not only one-on-one sessions, but also customized methods tailored to each client’s needs. Some clients may come specifically for EMDR therapy, but discover they also benefit from Somatic Therapy, Expressive Arts, or Internal Family Systems (IFS). Many times, our therapists are able to integrate all of these modalities in a single therapeutic relationship, rather than going to multiple therapists.

Our team takes a collaborative approach, and through ongoing professional development, every therapist is exposed to a diverse range of experiential modalities and treatment plans. This collaborative environment enables us to draw on the collective knowledge of our center, allowing us to create high-quality, personalized treatment plans based on each client’s goals and responses.

Individual or Family Sessions?

Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, Trauma Therapy Delaware County

There may be times when it’s helpful to bring in family members to your therapy session. Our therapists are able to offer this when it’s helpful and desired by the client, as a way to provide support to the client during difficult conversations. While there may be other family members present, this is still considered individual therapy, due to the therapist only having a single client – you.

When a family wishes to engage in multiple, ongoing sessions, where the family unit is the priority, this would be considered family therapy. In family therapy, there isn’t one client that is supported, but each individual within the family. There may be opportunities for the therapist to meet one-on-one with family members, but the therapeutic relationship always stays aligned with the family unit. The Phoenix Center also offers family therapy and couples therapy.

Cost

Our rates vary based on years of experience, qualifications, and specialties of each therapist, but are typically between $140-$250/hour. Our services are considered out-of-network. While we are not in network with any insurance providers, we can provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, if you have out-of-network benefits.

We are able to offer both in-person (located in Media, PA) and virtual offerings in PA, NJ, DE, and DC. Due to licensing regulations, a therapist must be licensed in the state where the client is physically located. We do offer Trauma Recovery Coaching as a potential option for our out-of-state clients.
