Hairee (Lee) Hayden (she/her/hers), is a Master of Social Service (MSS) student at Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and a clinical intern at the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy. She is a Korean American immigrant, published short story writer, podcast producer, and single mother of two children. Her personal and professional experiences shape her commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive care, particularly with diverse and marginalized communities.
Therapeutic Approach & Clinical Style
Hairee approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and respect for each client’s lived experience. She values a collaborative, emotionally safe therapeutic space where clients feel supported in exploring difficult experiences at their own pace. Her developing clinical style integrates DBT, psychodrama, parts work, somatic awareness, attachment-based approaches, and trauma-informed care.
She is particularly drawn to group therapy and experiential approaches that foster connection, insight, and meaningful change. She is especially interested in supporting people of color through processes of racial and cultural identity development toward greater self-understanding, resilience, and empowerment in response to racism and internalized oppression.
Professional Experience
Before entering the mental health field, Hairee worked as a chemistry teacher in the United Kingdom and later earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College. She currently serves as a producer of the Social Work Journeys podcast and as communications officer for the Philadelphia Area Group Psychotherapy Association (PAGPA).
