Bethlehem Guerra (She/Her/Hers) is a Master of Social Work (MSW) student at Temple University School of Social Work and a clinical intern at the Phoenix Center for Experiential Trauma Therapy. Her clinical and professional interests are rooted in supporting individuals and communities impacted by trauma, systemic barriers, and inequities in access to mental health care. Through her experiences in community mental health settings, Bethlehem has developed a passion for providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care to diverse populations.
Therapeutic Approach
Bethlehem approaches therapy with empathy, curiosity, and respect for each client’s unique experiences and strengths. She believes in creating a collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace. Her developing clinical approach integrates trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and experiential approaches, while continuing to expand her knowledge of EMDR and other trauma-focused interventions. She is particularly interested in understanding the impact of trauma across generations and within cultural contexts. Bethlehem is passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate grief, identity development, life transitions, and healing from experiences that have shaped their sense of self and relationships.
Professional Experience
Before beginning her clinical internship, Bethlehem gained experience providing case management and supportive services within community mental health settings. Her work has included assisting individuals with accessing resources, navigating barriers to care, developing community connections, and supporting clients with mental health and social service needs. She has also contributed to resource development, community outreach, and advocacy efforts focused on improving access to services for underserved populations.
Bethlehem’s experiences have strengthened her commitment to serving populations with limited access to mental health care and social support. Bethlehem values a holistic approach to healing and recognizes the deep connection between the mind, body, emotions, and lived experiences. She continues to grow as a clinician with the goal of providing compassionate, trauma-informed care that honors each person’s story and lived experience
