About the Workshop

This 7-session workshop series is designed to outline SAMHSA’s definition of trauma and trauma-informed care for mental health practitioners, leaders, and other professionals. Trauma-informed care is much more than a buzzword to put on a website or marketing material – it is a comprehensive framework that guides us in creating optimal environments for trauma survivors (humans) to receive services and be at our best as employees. The four “R”s and 6 principles of trauma-informed care will be taught and discussed in detail. Any professional interested in enhancing their understanding of trauma and their effectiveness with their clients or supervisees will find this workshop series useful.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe the four Rs of trauma-informed care
  2. Identify the six trauma-informed principles
  3. Define retraumatization
Please note that there will be no refunds or discounts applied for missed sessions (planned or unexpected) due to the ongoing nature of this workshop series.

Important Information

*Please note that this is workshop will include both didactic and experiential learning components. The experiential learning structures include demonstrations of psychodrama and other experiential processes which often include (optional) personal disclosures from participants. While personal growth is often a byproduct of experiential learning in psychodrama, the primary purpose of this workshop is training. If you are seeking a workshop for personal growth or seeking a professional training event that is entirely didactic (lecture/powerpoint), this is probably not the best workshop for you.
