Relationships are one of the most important aspects of anyone’s life. Relationships have the power to promote safety, healing, and happiness – as well as trauma, neglect, and hopelessness. Jacob Moreno’s theory of interpersonal relations is articulated through the social atom. The social atom, is a relational map which depicts an individual within the web of their closest relationships – “an individual is tied to his social atom as closely as to his body”. The importance of relationships, a social work core value, is further established through interpersonal neurobiology research. This workshop will present the social atom, a foundational sociometry/psychodrama tool. The social atom will be offered as a person-in-environment assessment as well as a warm-up process for psychodramatic action.

Note: this event will include powerpoint, theory, self-reflection, sociometry, and a psychodrama process
