About This Group:

Our LGBTQ+ group is a sanctuary designed to foster healing, post-traumatic growth, and community for queer individuals ages 18 and above in the face of persistent discriminatory legislation and unique challenges they face as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. We’ll spend our time navigating trauma recovery, processing together, and building tools and skills to navigate our sometimes-hostile society.

Ella Emmer (she/her/hers) is a graduate student in Thomas Jefferson University’s Community and Trauma Counseling Program and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rowan University.

Ella’s approach to therapy is trauma-informed and rooted in compassion. She believes that clients come to therapy with tools and skills already within them and aims to guide her clients to a place of understanding and clarity. She values the importance of client agency and feels that allowing clients to define their own healing timeline can be empowering. For more information on Ella read her full bio here!

Sarah Jayne Oltz (she/her/hers) is a graduate student of Thomas Jefferson University’s Master of Science in Community & Trauma Counseling program and has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of the Arts.

After years of pursuing her own personal growth journey and experiencing the healing power of trauma-informed therapy herself, Sarah Jayne decided to follow her passion for supporting the growth and healing of others by switching her career and starting on the path to becoming a trauma therapist.

Thus far on her journey, Sarah Jayne has developed a particular affinity for person-centered counseling, recognizing its power in fostering personal growth and self-discovery. She firmly believes that individuals have the innate ability to find solutions to their problems and should be empowered to direct their therapeutic journey in collaboration with the therapist. For more information on Sarah Jayne read her full bio here!
