John Webster (he/him/his) is a graduate student in the Immaculata University Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. John brings a warm, non-judgmental presence to his work and strives to create a truly safe space for clients to share their story. John comes to the helping profession as a career changer; he spent over ten years in corporate leadership roles where he learned the importance of relationships, strength-building and listening to better understand.
John’s approach is trauma-informed, attentive, and collaborative. He looks forward to working together to process past experiences, traumas, and loss, moving towards a stance of empowerment. He is client-centered and believes each client has the strengths and the insight within to thrive.
John has completed introductory training in EMDR on his path to certification. His approach is integrative of principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and narrative therapy, with an emphasis on reworking the response and stories left by trauma. In addition, John looks for opportunities to incorporate experiential, grounding or mindfulness exercises into his work. In his words:
Sometimes our past experiences can feel like a weight on our day-to-day lives. Often, our experiences have impacted us in ways that we can only discover through a journey of interpersonal work; curiosity matched with compassion. I see myself as an active listener and a companion on your journey and I am humbled by the opportunity to work alongside you.
John has an interest in working with all age groups and backgrounds. He has a passion for working with individuals and families coping with issues around anxiety and depression, PTSD, substance abuse and religious trauma.
John’s typical fee is $85 for individual therapy (53 min); he can work on a flexible sliding scale if needed.
