Workshop Description:

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy was developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz and is perhaps the most validating and healing form of psychotherapy that exists today. The IFS model invites us to approach our and others’ internal worlds with curiosity, compassion, connectedness, clarity, courage, calm, confidence, and creativity. IFS asserts that each of us has many parts inside of us who, through trauma or other emotional injury, are catapulted into specific roles in order to keep us safe. IFS allows us to heal our parts, release them from these roles, and cultivate harmonious internal relationships and interactions. This workshop will integrate didactic and experiential components to support professionals in learning the IFS model to use with clients in a professional setting–no previous IFS knowledge is required.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain an overview of the IFS model including different parts and Self.
  • Describe one of the steps (the 6F’s) in IFS when working with a part
  • Demonstrate awareness of therapist’s parts that get activated in a client session
  • Integrate basic IFS principles, language and techniques into my work

Please note that the experiential learning structures include demonstrations of IFS therapy and other experiential processes which often include (optional) personal disclosures from participants. While personal growth is often a byproduct of experiential learning in IFS therapy, the primary purpose of this workshop is training. If you are seeking a workshop for personal growth, or seeking a professional training event that is entirely didactic (lecture/PowerPoint), this is probably not the best workshop for you.

*Please note that all participants will be required to wear a mask while in the building due to the rising covid-19 cases in Delaware County and the Philadelphia area. Covid policies are subject to change based on changes in covid-19 cases leading up to the date of the event.
